Funeral Planning Checklist

Planning a funeral is no doubt- one of the most difficult and overwhelming things to plan, especially when grief is upon you. Here are 6 basic steps in the process of planning a funeral. Contact Provenzano Lanza, and we will help you from start to finish.

CONTACT US

When your loved one passes, it is most common for a viewing and a funeral to be held just days after. It can be overwhelmng and stressful that's why we urge you to call us immediately so we can help you from start to finish.

CEMETERIES

It is not an immediate responsibility, but you will need to visit your local cemeteries to find the final resting place for your loved one if you do not already have one. You will also need to arrange a burial ceremony if you choose to have one.

FUNERAL PRODUCTS

Whether you have chosen to do a viewing with a funeral with a burial service or a viewing with a funeral and cremation, you will need to choose how your friends and family will say their goodbyes by choosing an urn, casket or even memorial jewelry for after the ceremony.

GUESTS

Some of your friends and family may be coming from out of town to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes. Some will need to make day to day arrangements to be present for the service, so contacting them as soon as you can is a good idea.

EULOGIES

Friends and family members may want to say a few words and share experiences about your loved one. Sometimes they will be direct in telling you they would like to speak, other times you may have to extend the invitation.

TRANSPORTATION

If you have chosen a graveside burial service, transportation will be involved and needs to be arranged. There are options regarding transportation such as a family car, a flower car and, of course, the hearse.

Cedar Grove Cemetery is a non-sectarian cemetery that does not require vaults for burial. Burials of cremated remains and in private mausoleums is common.

 

Green-Wood Cemetery

Green-Wood Cemetery is a National Historic Landmark spanning 478 acres. Over 500,000 people have been buried here including a large number of historical figures.

 

Calvary Cemetery

Calvary Cemetery is a Catholic cemetery and has is one of the largest and oldest cemeteries in the United States. The cemetery spans 365 acres and is divided into 4 sections.

The Lafayette House offers a quiet escape from the fast paced New York hustle and bustle. It is in an excellent location in the east village that is close to our funeral home and surrounded by ample dining and nightlife options.

New York City is home to some of the best cuisine in the world. There are countless restaurants offering different kinds of cuisine all located in Manhattan near our funeral home. Having a meal together where you share stories about your loved one is an excellent way to cope and comfort your loved ones.
